I learned about MTR through a friend of a friend whose daughter had ridden at MTR for years and their family were very involved (mom was chair of the board). I had ridden horses since I was young, competing in hunter jumpers through college, so the idea of being able to work in a horse environment that serves the community in such a way was very appealing. It truly combined my love of horses with my passion of non-profit work.
As the Donor Engagement Manager, my primary roles include fundraising activities including events and campaigns, donor cultivation, engagement and stewardship, grant writing and reporting and more. With a small staff, responsibilities are vast and wide. I love the opportunity to increase the exposure of MTR in our community and to make a difference for our organization and our participants.
The people. The staff is some of the most dedicated group of people that I have ever had the honor of working alongside with. The volunteers are incredibly kind and caring about all of their work at MTR. The participants and their families are warm and open, and our supporters are truly committed to what we do.
On a perfect day I would be out on a boat with our kids and tied up with friends in a cove just enjoying where we live and the people in it.
My first job was to exercise race horses at an off-track training facility.
