I volunteered briefly at MTR in high school (probably around 2000 – that’s making me feel very old – there was no indoor arena and a different entrance!) The founder Naomi gave me her business card and connected MTR to my purpose way back when! I came back in 2009 mainly because I wanted to be around horses again. I knew I wanted to pursue providing equine assisted psychotherapy but didn’t know how to do it!
I have the following roles at MTR: Mental Health Program Manager, Advanced Instructor and Mental Health Professional. I love having a mix of being out providing therapy in a team approach, teaching/mentoring and developing/supporting programs and the practices that keep everything running. The horses are amazing in psychotherapy sessions and I have a new appreciation for how they truly interact with each being uniquely.
I love that I am able to connect with horses, with humans and with them together. The culture at MTR is so special, accepting, respectful and helps me be authentic and my best self. My best friend’s are here…both 2 and 4 legged.
I love being with my family, spending time outside, laughing and impromptu dance parties. I also love food and reading.
I’ve had many different jobs here and I have 2 corgis at home.
