Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR) is a non-profit organization located between Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland on a beautiful 25 acre farm. With the help of hundreds of volunteers and generous community contributors, MTR strives to improve the lives of special needs riders of all ages using a high quality program.
Therapeutic Riding is a growing and widely-accepted treatment for rehabilitating a range of physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. Conditions served include: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, post-traumatic brain injury, autism, ADHD, and cognitive disorders. Riders experience increased self-confidence and improvement in strength, balance, coordination, attention span, language and social skills.
Founded in 1996, MTR's year round program includes both traditional Therapeutic Riding as well as Hippotherapy. Instructor training is also offered. MTR is a Premier Operating Center accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA). |
